Puerto Ayora, Ecuador
Today was literally devoted to the Tortoises, and what a Merry Christmas it was. Started the day with a tour of Darwin Station in Pt. Ayora in Sta. Cruz (the most populous island in the Galapagos). We saw the famous Lonesome George there, and a bunch of other gigantic land tortoises. There were also sections in the station where they kept a variety of huge colorful land iguanas as well as breeding sections for tiny tortoises. After lunch, we drove to the highlands of Sta. Cruz where we checked some more tortoises in their natural habitat. Tomorrow, we are sailing to Espanola, one of the most popular islands in the Galapagos.
